| Timneh greys are smaller in size and have lighter colored,
reddish upper beaks and dark, reddish-brown tails. Most breeders
believe a hand fed Timneh makes as good a pet as a larger
grey. The Congo greys are larger and lighter than the Timneh.
Greys are very intelligent. A European study found them to
have the intelligence of a five year old child and the emotional
development of a two year old. Many grey owners can tell you
many stories of the uncanny way that their greys relate to
their moods and to the situations at hand. There are just
too many anecdotes told about these parrots for all of them
to happen by chance---African greys can think!!!!
Senegal parrots are very popular with breeders and pet owners.
They are the most commonly produced of the small African parrots.
Hand fed Senegals make good quality pets.
Meyer parrots have a grey/black hood and wings, aqua breast,
turquoise back, yellow shoulder flashes and head patch, yellowish-green
underparts, bright red eyes in adults.
They're not great talkers like the African Grey or Timneh,
but can learn a reasonable vocabulary, depending on the individual
bird and the owner's willingness to spend time training.
