| The coloring on a Nanday is quite beautiful.
Their heads have a black "cap" and they have a black
beak and people often think they are called Black capped Conures,
which is a much smaller bird and different Conure all together.
The throat and upper breast is a very pretty faded light blue,
and the flight feathers are bluish green. They have some very
bright red feathers on their thighs.
One of their best traits is the ability to adapt very quickly
to their new surroundings. They are very sociable, even with
other species.
They make very good pets because they are very affectionate
and playful. Most Nandays love showers from a spray bottle
or take baths in a water dish.
The Nanday has not been very popular with a lot of bird breeders.
The main reason is their loud voice. Also the Nandays talking
abilities are somewhat limited. It depends on the individual
bird and your patience in teaching him. Most Nandays are capable
of speaking a lot more phrases than just 5 or 6 as stated
in several bird books.
