| This is a medium to noisy parrot. He is
often lively when unobserved. The older Senegal remains reserved;
sometimes even panic-stricken. However, young birds will soon
become confiding. Provide a regular supply of wood as Senegal’s
enjoy chewing decaying wood and rotten root-stems. They are
hardy when acclimated and generally tolerant of other birds.
The general plumage is green. The head is grey to dark grey.
The ear-coverts have slight silvery tinge. The lower breast
and abdomen are yellow to orange-yellow. The under wing- and
under tail-coverts are bright yellow, tail brownish-green.
The periophthalmic ring is black. The bill is black, iris
yellow and feet dark-grey.
